Sahaj Khalsa, BS, NRP, NM I/C is an award-winning, experienced educator who works as Senior Lecturer and Lead Faculty at the University of New Mexico. He is a leader and EMS researcher with a demonstrated history of innovation in EMS education. Sahaj is skilled in Higher Education Program Management, Analytical Skills, Coaching, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and Editing. Sahaj uses humor, data, and personal experiences to challenge EMS orthodoxy where it conflicts with the evidence.
Sahaj has presented at state and national EMS and EMS educator conferences, published research papers in peer-reviewed journals, and was the principal author of a position paper on educating culturally competent EMS providers for the National Association of EMS Educators. This paper sets goals and standards for EMS as a whole to continue working towards equitable access to education and care across the country. It was unanimously adopted by the NAEMSE Board of Directors, on which he is currently serving his second term.
