Lori Burns, MSN, RN is the National Vice President of Learning for Global Medical Response and serves as Chair for the Board of Directors of the Committee on Accreditation for EMS Professions. She is one of the American Ambulance Association representatives and has served on the Board for nine years
Lori has extensive experience in higher education, healthcare and EMS education, as well as the ambulance industry. Following several years as an emergency department nurse Lori entered the EMS field as a Special Care Transport Nurse at Medevac, Inc. She held several leadership positions at Medevac before shifting her emphasis to education at Daniel Freeman Hospital in Inglewood, California. She has held leadership roles at HealthOne EMS in Englewood Colorado and the Beth-El School of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. In 2007 Lori accepted the position of Dean of Instruction and CTE Director for Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood, Colorado. In her current role at Global Medical Response, she is responsible for six accredited paramedic programs and serves as President of the College of Emergency Services in Clackamas, OR.
Lori has been involved in all administrative aspects of accredited Paramedic, PA, RN, MD, and allied health education programs. This includes the coordination of and evaluation of principal instructors, adjunct faculty, field and hospital preceptors, clinical and internship assignments, and curriculum development. Lori has demonstrated expertise in developing assessment systems for faculty, administrative and instructional staff to include goal setting, administrative observations, and classroom effectiveness. She has proven leadership working with external groups and accrediting bodies.
